Precious Present
Your life has meaning
Have you ever wondered why you are here on planet earth? As times seem to get worse it can feel as if our lives are futile.
Nearly every day is spent the same--working for our survival, and a place to lay our heads, and put food on the table.
But shouldnt there be more? Are we supposed to be accomplishing something?
When you were a child you probably had some grand ideas of what your life would be like. You daydreamed of what you would become, and yet our lives often feel full of drudgery and happenstance
We may have had a better vision of who we are when we were children. Somewhere along the line we let our own excitement about our lives fade, and we settled for a mundane life.
Life used to be exciting minute by minute. As adults we know what to expect, what will happen at any given moment. It is so familiar. We have done this day over and over and over!
So what has changed anyway? Have we just become jaded?
No!
When we were young we lived moment by moment. Everythig was new and unexpected then. Fortunately, your life can be exactly the same way again.
Remember your heart as a child
As you learn and remember to guide yourself to live in the moment the world looks new! As you get into the "now" colors suddenly seem brighter. What do you hear? Do you hear the hum of an airplane, or little birds singing? That is what I just heard out my window!
What do you hear that you did not hear just a minute ago? This is a fun task that you can do daily. What do you smell? If you are near a window, look out of it. What is there? I see a tree--one I have seen every day for many years, and yet it is not the tree I saw yesterday.
Today, the wind is softly moving the tree's branches. There is incredible beauty in the movement and yet I did not notice it a minute ago.
My kitty just came in the room. I always notice when the cats are near. Animals know of nothing else but the present moment, and so they help to ground us into the now reality.
Observe yourself as your mind wanders. It wants to think about the future and the past, but all our gifts are in the precious present.
When you are in the present you become open to symbols that appear in your life. It is like the universe is communicating with you. You become aware of apparent coincidences and syncronicities. This can open up a whole new world to you.
Living in the moment helps to prevent you from becoming hypnotized throughout the day.
In the "now" you are suddenly aware--aware of your surroundings, of any internal thoughts and other people.
You cannot know your mission in life, or your life's purpose unless you wake up and become more aware
Practicing living in the moment can make you feel joyful, as it frees your mind.
It is a restful and calm place to be.
You will be able to develop your intuition and become more clear about what is going on in your life.
This is just one practice that you can do during the day
It is a great place to start on your path, and it is an incredible practice to make your life better
